You've Got This Because Jesus Christ Has Got You (Oct 28, 2024)
Many years ago I was a new mom & new in my ward. I really wanted to attend a special stake Relief Society activity- but I was shy & nervous & worried: “But who will I sit by?!” I didn’t know many people, but after going back & forth, I decided to be brave & go. On the way there I just PRAYED I would find someone to sit by & not feel alone. I took a deep breath, walked in late (of course, haha), & there in the very back of the crowded room was the kind, familiar face of one of the ONLY women I’d connected with so far in my new ward, & right next to her was an empty seat. Say what you will, but what I felt right in that moment was *heard.* I knew that God was looking out for me.
Recently I had to drop off a struggling kid somewhere they really needed to be but didn’t want to be. They were very late, anxious, & I wondered if they’d get out of the car at all. On the way there I PRAYED that someone would be there to help my child walk in & not feel alone. As we drove up we immediately saw a familiar face right at the entrance. Right at that moment. It could have been anyone. But it was a trusted, kind person who knew my child, giving my kid the courage to get out, be greeted, welcomed, & walked to where they needed to be. Say what you will, but in that moment I felt *heard.* I knew that God was looking out for both of us.
Honestly I don’t remember much at all about the Relief Society activity all those years ago. But I do remember there was a seat for me.
Maybe my child won’t remember much about the other night. But maybe they’ll remember the loving arm around their shoulders.
God is mindful of us. The small things that matter to us matter to Him.
“As you fulfill your birthright responsibilities, you are never alone. The Lord of the vineyard labors with you. You are working hand in hand with Jesus Christ… You are youth of the noble birthright. Your covenant relationship with God & Jesus Christ is a relationship of love & trust in which you have access to a greater measure of Their grace—Their divine assistance, endowment of strength, & enabling power. That power is not just wishful thinking, a lucky charm, or self-fulfilling prophecy. It is real.” -Brad R Wilcox
