The Things Which Are Not Seen Are Eternal (Sep 18, 2023)
Chills.I attended a relief society fireside last night about symbols of the temple.
It began with a beautiful musical number, the song, “Strength Beyond My Own.”
The words & spirit coursed through me like an electric shock. I felt a deep love for the temple!
“Heaven’s light flows through the windows,
warming even walls of stone.
In the refuge of the temple
I find strength beyond my own.
Chorus:
I can feel the pow’r of Heaven as I stand on holy ground,
And the spirit whispers what I long to learn.
Eyes are touched with understanding
I can see beyond this world.
It’s the place I reach for Heaven and it reaches in return.
Filled with purpose, filled with power,
Granted gifts to lift the world.
In God’s house and in his presence I am filled with strength to serve.”
I have felt all of that in the temple. Light. Refuge. Power. Understanding. Strength. Purpose. Heaven reaching my reaching!
The rest of the fireside was amazing. There are symbols of Christ everywhere in the temple. Everything points to Him!
I left feeling so grateful to be a member of this church. To know we have holy temples. A prophet who guides us. Revelation from a living God above. The keys & teachings necessary for salvation & exaltation. Ordinances that bring us closer to heaven, literally endowing us with God’s power. Angels on the other side of the veil. A divine plan. Christ’s church & authority restored on the earth today.
We get so bogged down by the things of this world.
But life is so much more than the physical things around us.
I remembered that last night.
My spiritual eyes awakened.
Sometimes they nap… sigh.
Luckily they can be jolted awake when I need them most.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Cor. 5:7)
“We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (4:18)
“Eyes are touched with understanding
I can see beyond this world.
It’s the place I reach for Heaven and it reaches in return…”
