Which Team? You Choose

The war chapters remind me of the world today. WHOSE TEAM DO I WANT TO BE ON?

TEAM 1: Amalickiah, “he being a very subtle man to do evil.”

TEAM 2: “This was the faith of Moroni, and his heart did glory in it... in doing good, in preserving his people, yea, in keeping the commandments of God.”

TEAM 1: Amalickiah “did inspire their hearts against the Nephites.” He “hardened the hearts of the Lamanites and blinded their minds, and stirred them up to anger.” He desired to “dethrone the king and take possession of the kingdom.”

TEAM 2: Moroni “inspired their hearts with these thoughts—their lands, their liberty, yea, their freedom from bondage.” “They were not fighting for monarchy nor power but they were fighting for their homes and their liberties, their wives and their children.”

TEAM 1: Amalickiah “was a man of cunning device and a man of many flattering words, that he led away the hearts of many people to do wickedly; yea, and to seek to destroy the church of God, and to destroy the foundation of liberty.”

TEAM 2: Moroni was “a man that did not delight in bloodshed.... a man whose heart did swell with thanksgiving to his God... a man who did labor exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people... a man who was firm in the faith of Christ.”

TEAM 1: Amalickiah was “exceedingly wroth, and he did curse God, and also Moroni, swearing with an oath that he would drink his blood.”

TEAM 2: Moroni “had sworn with an oath to defend his people, his rights, and his country, and his religion.”

TEAM 1: “Amalickiah had thus been obtaining power by fraud and deceit”

TEAM 2: “Moroni... had been preparing the minds of the people to be faithful unto the Lord their God.”

“Now these dissenters, having the same instruction and the same information of the Nephites, yea, having been instructed in the same knowledge of the Lord,

nevertheless,

it is strange to relate,

not long after their dissensions they became more hardened and impenitent, and more wild, wicked and ferocious than the Lamanites... giving way to indolence, and all manner lasciviousness; yea,

entirely forgetting the Lord their God.” Alma 47:36
