The Works of God Cannot be Frustrated

I signed up to drop dinner off to the missionaries on Christmas Day.

I had every intention of making a nice cheesy potato casserole with honey baked ham, and YES, Jello!😆 But due to a miscommunication I found myself in a rush, so instead of making a casserole from scratch, I ended up making a cheap box of au gratin potatoes from my pantry.

Like, LAME! They’re away from home on Christmas! They should get a REALLY GOOD dinner- not something they could easily make themselves! 🤦‍♀️

To make matters worse, I accidentally tipped the pan while shoving it into the oven & a bunch of it spilled out, immediately sizzling, smoking, & stinking up the whole house. ☹️

Ugh, I was ruining everything!

I sheepishly handed the dinner off, hoping it wasn’t too bad.

Later that week, we had a zoom call with them, & you know what they said?

“Thanks SO much for that dinner! HOW did you make those potatoes?! They were SO GOOD- they had like this nice smoky taste!”

😂😂😂

I’m like “YOU GUYS ARE KIDDING ME, RIGHT?”

They were TOTALLY sincere!

Turns out I didn’t ruin everything after all.

Losing the 116 pages didn’t ruin everything.

Partaking of the forbidden fruit didn’t ruin everything.

Denying Christ 3 times didn’t ruin everything.

Failing twice to get the brass plates didn’t ruin everything.

Burning Abinadi at the stake didn’t ruin everything.

Attempting to destroy the church before an angel finally said stop it didn’t ruin everything.

Not praying for 3 years & getting chastised didn’t ruin everything.

Driving the Saints out of their homes didn’t ruin everything.

Murdering Joseph didn’t ruin everything.

And nailing the Savior to a cross did not ruin everything.

“There has always been & will ever be an effort to deceive, derail, oppose, and frustrate the plan of life.” (Elder Corbridge)

But “the works, and the designs, and the purposes of God cannot be frustrated” (D&C 3:1)

CANNOT.

Because God is smarter than that. His plan is greater than that.

He accounts for the frustrations. He accounts for cheap burned potatoes.

He knows ALL. He is merciful.

And He provides a way.

“All things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things.” (2 Ne 2:24)
