12 Days of Christ Day 10: He Hath Filled The Hungry

12 Days of Christ: Day 10

While pregnant, Mary testified of Christ: “He hath filled the hungry with good things” (Luke 1:53)

We took the family out to eat last night for a birthday (ahem, mine!) & we ordered chips & salsa as an appetizer because it’s one of my most favorite things!

Well, our food took awhile, but no worries, cause our waitress was really on top of that chips & salsa. She just kept it coming! Good thing, cause we were starving!

After like our 4th basket (hey, we are a family of 8) another waiter saw our chips getting low, so he took it upon himself to bring us 2 more baskets. Score!

A minute later, our waitress brought 2 MORE baskets & was surprised to see we already had some, but she just put hers on the table too, so yes, there were 4 full baskets of chips & salsa on our table, along with some half eaten baskets.

Livin’ the life!

One of the kids asked, “WHY do they keep bringing us so much chips & salsa??”

Maybe cause we kept eating them like ravenous wolves…

I explained that the menu said “Bottomless chips & salsa,” & bottomless meant you could never get to the bottom, aka, never run out!

Well, after we had eaten our meals & the waitress brought some to-go boxes, she asked, “Do you guys want some chips & salsa to go, too?”

MORE? Why not!

And she gave us 2 big bags of chips & 2 cups of salsa to take home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!😆

I mean, I don’t know if they just needed to get rid of chips that night, but never have I received (or ate) so much chips & salsa in my life. 😂

Now, I’m not comparing Christ to a waitress… ok… maybe so… but He did say, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; & he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35)

What a promise!

Don’t we all hunger for love & light, purpose & healing, Spirit & truth?

Are we filling up on shallow & fleeting things?

Too often I do. It’s so easy to fill up on the chips & salsas of the world, that, no matter what the menu says, WILL eventually RUN OUT.

What Christ offers is deep, real, & truly…

Bottomless.

What seek ye?

Let Him fill you.

“For he satisfieth the longing soul, & filleth the hungry soul with goodness.” (Ps. 107:9)
